Last night as Brandon and I were driving home from dinner, we discovered that the road to our house was closed due to flooding. Thinking we could make it, we ended up getting stuck in just barely over 2 ft. of water. Our car "floated" over the curb and then there was a loud bump and then the engine stopped. We looked at each other and realized we were stranded in the middle of a pond with no cell phones on us. As Brandon opened his car door, water rushed in. It was hard to get the door shut again. The water was soaking up through the floor of the car. I didn't want Brandon to push the car because I was afraid of not being able to see how deep the water was, or what debris was beneath it. I was worried that he might slip or get hurt from the car, which was floating a little. The biggest problem was that we were in a pond at the bottom of a hill and the only way to go was up the hill. Once Brandon pushed the car out of the water and halfway up the hill, the rest seemed impossible but there were two people who agreed to help push the car the rest of the way up the hill and then they just had to push it around the block and into our apartment complex. Brandon and I thought that I shouldn't push the car because of being pregnant and we didn't know if that was a safe thing to do. Thanks to Brandon, we still have his car, although the engine won't start. Driving him to work this morning, we had to take a long detour around all the flooding. There was still about 6 inches of water in the parking lot at the clinic. Click here for pictures of flooding in Whatcom County.

Oh my goodness that sounds horrible! I'm so glad you're okay! Will your car insurance cover Brandon's car?
You guys do know that you don't have to have all the adventures of your married life the first year right? So glad you made it safely home!
Wow! How scary. I'm glad you made it out alright.
To answer your question about the stockings, Scott's family is WAY into stockings. Everyone has one that looks alike. Scott's grandma starting making them for their family a long time ago and now Scott's cousin makes them for the new members of the family like me, Brie and Amy. So I don't have much advice because I didn't have to do anything :) It is fun having matching stockings with his whole family so if you have the time, energy, creativity, etc. I would sugget making them because you can always make more as your family grows and they have more meaning. That said, if Scott's family didn't have that tradition, I would probably have bought ours :)
That is crazy! I don't even know what we would do. Very scary. And I'm glad you didn't help push. Definitely not a good idea.

What a strange experience. Did you feel like you were in bizarro-world? I'm so glad everyone is safe, but what a nuisance.
