Donna Auer, pastel artist

The Lucia Douglas Gallery has a mini-display of some local artists' work just outside of On Rice where we ate dinner last night. I especially liked these pastels by Donna Auer. Click here to see more of her work. I haven't been to the gallery yet to see the entire collection, but I'm sure it is really beautiful.
I really liked the decor inside On Rice in Barkley Village. It's a little newer, and more contemporary than the one over by Samish Way. I enjoyed showing Gloria the fish tank and I liked the big, wood doors with glass etching (or what looks like etching) at the entrance. The food was really good, too. We ordered the yellow curry with potatoes, onion & chicken, which was very good. And also the Sen Yai noodles served over perfectly prepared broccoli and beef and drenched in this amazing sauce and peanut oil. It was so sweet, it literally was like eating delicious pasta with melted peanut butter cookies on top. It was really gooey and tasted more like a dessert than a main course. I told Brandon that now I can call Washington my home because I have found a dish that is as satisfying as the Drunken Noodles with Oyster Sauce at my favorite Salt Lake restaurant, Thai Siam.
